Before You Begin

Before getting started with our essential oils, there are a few basics to remember:

When applying oils topically, always use a carrier oil. These are oils used to dilute essential oils.

Essential oils should not be taken by mouth.
First, perform a small test before applying anything to larger areas of your skin.

Whether you need to address skin concerns, soothe your aching, tired muscles, or simply relax and get some rest, it helps to have an arsenal of essential oils on hand. Essential oils can be used in skincare and beauty products, and for aromatherapy purposes. Southern Comfort Wellness 100% Pure Therapeutic Essential Oils can be used with diffusers or many humidifiers, by adding a few drops of oil combined with water the diffusers & humidifiers will release a scented vapor into the atmosphere.

FAQs About Southern Comfort Essential Oils

Are any of these oils photosensitive and will burn my skin?
Potentially. Some essential oils may cause burns if your skin is exposed to sunlight after applying the oil, especially citrus oils, like lemon. That's because compounds found in citrus oils—known as furanocoumarins—greatly increase UV sensitivity. Research any essential oil product before applying so you are aware.
Can essential oils be used internally?
Not recommended. Essential oils are extremely concentrated. If taken internally it may cause serious damage. Please consult with a doctor, or someone who is qualified in the internal use of essential oils, before taking internally.
How do I use these?
The most common way to use essential oils is to inhale them. They have amazing scents and therapeutic properties. Essential oils can also be used in diffusers and humidifiers, as well as diluted with a carrier oil and applied to the skin.
How should my essential oils be stored?
Make sure the bottle is tightly sealed and kept stored in an upright position, in a cool, dry location. Some people do store their essential oils in their fridge.
Are Essential Oils Safe For Children?
Children are more at risk from adverse skin reactions and breathing problems because their skin is thinner (not as mature as adults), their metabolism is less effective than adults and they are more susceptible to having respiratory issues. Before applying essential oils to children, please consult with their doctor or medical professional for guidance.
Are Essential Oils Safe If I Am Pregnant?
Consult your physician before applying any essential oils if you are pregnant. Some oils may be dangerous to use when pregnant.
